Kyle had to try too

Of course since it is germany, and it is New Years, we let Kyle taste a little of the champane. You can see how much he LOVED it here :P

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So what do you do on New Years in germany and a lot of other eupean places? FIREWORKS.
They were going off all around us, nice rockets and so on. We bought a few little things like spinners and sparklers and so on. Kyle helped matthias set them off. And we drank champane of course!

Cars and bikes

At the museum there was an interesting bike which was made after the one world war, when they didn't have enough rubber anymore.. so they made a new type of tires out of springs. They apparently worked well if you weren't on paved roads, but not so well if you were.

And that is karen next to a cute little car.

Speyer

On the way back from the castle we also stopped at the Technik museum in Speyer, where they have a lot of old cars and airplanes. You can go up into some of the airplanes and a few other things like submarines and helicopters.
At the top of the huge 747 which was way up in the air there was a slide where Kyle slid down..

Tuebingen

The day after being at the Castle we went to a small german town (too bad it was sunday and all of the stores were closed), and saw a nice city center and some beautiful houses.

Burg Hohenzollern

This is the castle from a little further away, and then us going up into it!

The first few days, Kyle and Matthias were hanging out and Kyle and I went into my lab and then ate lunch on the shore of the Maine River.. Was a bit cold, but it was nice!
